«Intorno al 2011, durante una visita alla Fattoria di Celle di Giuliano Gori, insieme a un gruppo di allievi dell’Opificio delle Pietre Dure di Firenze capitò infatti di incontrare Loris Cecchini, che proprio a quegli stessi allievi aveva tenuto – alcuni mesi prima – una bellissima lezione, raccontando con cristallina chiarezza le molte sfaccettature del suo operare: dalla prima progettazione al lungo studio dei materiali, per arrivare ai nodi principali della fase esecutiva. Cecchini era lì a Celle, quel giorno, per definire insieme a Gori un nuovo lavoro permanente, da installare nel parco: la scultura che avrebbe preso poi il nome di The Hand, The Creatures, The Singing Garden.
Fu forse proprio in occasione di questo rapido e casuale saluto che nacque l’idea di assegnare una tesi di laurea su Loris Cecchini.
[…] Biancalucia Maglione accolse la sfida con un impegno che da subito faceva ben sperare. […] Attraverso una scrupolosa ricerca bibliografica […], tramite l’esame delle fonti e lo studio diretto di un alto numero di opere, Maglione è riuscita efficacemente a inquadrare il lavoro dell’artista milanese, proponendo una scansione, che è insieme cronologica e tipologica, che non cristallizza rigidamente, ma che di contro rende fluida e vivace – sul piano storico e critico – la lettura del percorso di Cecchini…»

«Around 2011, during a visit to Giuliano Gori’s Fattoria di Celle together with a group of students from the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence, I happened to meet Loris Cecchini, who, just a few months earlier, had given a wonderful lecture to those very same students. In it he had talked in a crystal-clear fashion about the many facets of his practice: from the preliminary design process to the lengthy study of materials and then on to the main hurdles of the execution phase. Cecchini was there at Celle, that day, to firm up plans together with Giuliano Gori for a new permanent work to be installed in the park – the sculpture that would then be entitled The hand, the creatures, the singing garden.
It was perhaps on the occasion of this quick and chance greeting that I had the idea of setting a degree thesis on Loris Cecchini.

[…] Through careful bibliographic research […], the perusal of sources and direct study of a large number of works, Maglione managed very effectively to bring the Milanese artist’s work into focus. Her overview, at once chronological and typological, does not rigidly crystallize but, on the contrary, renders lively and fluid, on both a historical and critical plane, the reading of Cecchini’s development as an artist…»
